Maersk Drilling 50 Years Anniversary Book
In June 2022, Maersk Drilling celebrated its 50th anniversary to honor its history and employees while marking what would become the close of the company. This change of events occurred while I was engaged with the project: Maersk Group made the decision to leave the oil and gas industry, closing a chapter in Danish and corporate history with significant impact.
I worked on this project for almost two years, advising on the photographic style as well as creatively directing and executing the photographs themselves. This work took me on location throughout Europe and the Americas and included rig visits in the Gulf of Mexico and in the waters around Suriname and Guyana. This long-term project was one of those impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic, and its restrictions were heavily weighed during the decision making process.
Maersk Drillings corporate history is told through the lens of 13 visionary employees whose experiences mark significant growth points along the company’s evolution. I spent time cultivating relationships with each of the employees whose portraits and corporate
memorabilia I photographed. Earning the high levels of trust and camaraderie necessary to meaningfully enrich their stories through a visual medium, I was invited to work with employees in their homes to capture and preserve deeply personal moments that collectively illustrate the trajectory of Maersk Drilling.
